GHS track hosts regional championships

The Gloucester High School boys’ and girls’ track teams hosted the 5B South Regional Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday at Gloucester High School, with a couple of GHS athletes qualifying for the state meet.

Tanner Baker won the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:54.34. He also qualified in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:40.30. Joel Junker placed third in the 3200m run with a time of 11:03.60 and will join Baker at the state championships.

Mya Baker won the 3200-meter run in a time of 12:58.09, qualifying for the state championships. She also won the girls’ 1600-meter run, completing in a time of 5:34.72. The boys’ 4x800 meter relay team of Tanner Baker, Tyler Hicks, Clayton Miller and Rylan Allcorn ran a time of 8:28.62 to take third overall and earn a spot in the state tournament. There were other great performances as well at the regional meet.
