The Gloucester High School boys’ and girls’ track teams competed in the first Peninsula District meet of the season last Wednesday, April 16, at Todd Stadium in Newport News, competing in several events.
Top finishers
Deziray Bellinger fin-ished second overall in the varsity girls’ 100-meter dash with a time of 13.02, followed by Rhykeesia White (14.85), Charlotte Kirby (15.28), Lilli Watts (15.48), Aaliyah Sealey (17.08) and Isabella Brodsky (17.67).
For the JV girls, Zarheia Couvington finished fourth overall in the same event with a time of 14.47, followed by Laci Austin (14.90) and Kylie Fox (17.11).
Avalynn Hutton took second place for Gloucester in the varsity girls’ 1,600-meter run with a time of 6:08. Rachel Blittle finished with a time of 6:36, followed by Peyton Price (7:06) and Piper Dumas (7:51).
Mohamed Erraji placed second in the varsity boys’ discus event with a mark of 119-7. Trevor Burke fin-ished with a mark of 87-9, followed by Jaden Elliott (79-8) and Aiden Luchsinger (72-2).
Also in second was the varsity girls’ 4×800 meter relay team, finishing its events with a time of 11:36.
Hannah Mullis finished third overall in the varsity girls’ shot put event with a mark of 31-5, followed by Brianna Peet (21-10.5), Jazmine Foster (19-7) and Alyssa Wilson (18-8.25).
Xavier Johnson fin-ished third overall in the varsity boys’ 100-meter dash with a time of 11.44. Next for Gloucester was Jacob Ford with a time of 11.92, followed by Shawn Steverson (12.06), Jadon Thompson (12.13), Kayden Lovett (12.55), Damian Domenech (13.43), Matthew Hensley (13.55) and Lamont Frazier (13.85).
James Dubay finished third overall in the varsity boys’ shot put event with a mark of 41-0.75, followed closely in fourth place by Austin Halterman (41-0.5). Colby Morris and Ryan Sheridan also competed in the event with marks of 29-6.5 and 27-2.25, respectively.
Girls
In the varsity girls’ 200-meter dash, Payten Bebco finished with a time of 29.95, followed by Laci Austin (30.88), Emma Hogge (31.11), Kylie Jones (31.51) and Fox (37.23).
Shyanne Carlton fin-ished with a time of 1:08 in the varsity girls’ 400-meter dash, followed by Kayla Turner (1:10), Ellary Miller (1:12) and Chelsea Shield (1:23).
In the varsity girls’ 800-meter run, Josephine Williams finished with a time of 2:55, followed by Zoe Scott (3:00), Hannah Broadwell (3:03), Chloe Sylvester (3:05), Skylar Klaiss (3:19) and Camille Reyes (3:34).
Jenna Seaton and Amari Hunt both competed in the varsity girls’ 100m hurdles, finishing with time of 19.34 and 21.35, respectively.
Seaton finished with a time of 55.15 in the varsity girls’ 300m hurdles, followed by Bellinger (56.05) and Hunt (57.57). Kirby finished with a mark of 13-1 in the varsity girls’ long jump.
In the varsity girls’ discus event, Mullis finished with a mark of 68-9, followed by Aaliyah Smith-Boone (61-2), Peet (50-0) and Reese Damron (47-9).
Boys
Kameron Starcher competed in the JV boys’ 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 14.66.
In the varsity boys’ 200-meter dash, Gavyn Talbot finished with a time of 24.87, followed by Omari Lockley (25.33), Sam Blittle (25.79), Corben Trammell-Till (27.25), Mayron Jones (27.35), Elroy Delaney (27.87), Taylor Hudgins (28.99) and Landon Monroe (31.40).
Izak Smith finished with a time of 53.51 in the varsity boys’ 400-meter dash, followed by Alex Hammond (57.66), Jacob Stump (1:01.76), Bentley Hughes (1:06.64), Hayden Fox (1:07.53), Trevion Callicutt (1:09.02) and Schuyler Clemmons (1:09.10).
In the varsity boys’ 800-meter run, Erik Waters finished with a time of 2:12, followed by Adan Depaz (2:19), Cesar Gomez (2:24), Ryker Jordan (2:36) and JaKahri Coutee (3:56).
Hugh Davis finished with a time of 5:18 in the varsity boys’ 1,600-meter run, followed by Logan McAllister (6:04) and Lincoln Alcorn (6:07).
In the varsity boys’ 110-meter hurdles, Maliq Jackson finished with a time of 16.61, followed by Brad Bellinger (18.59) and Kryshire Cooke (21.27).
Jackson finished first for Gloucester in the varsity boys’ 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.56, followed by Bellinger (46.59) and Cooke (50.00).
