GHS softball takes three

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team had a successful week, winning all three games it played.

The Lady Dukes completed a two-game sweep of the Kecoughtan Warriors with a 4-0 win last Thursday afternoon at home. Gloucester broke open a scoreless game in the fifth inning, as the team put together five hits to score four runs.

During the fifth inning, Kayla Pasipanki hit a single and advanced to second base on a Tessa Carteret sacrifice bunt. Alexis Dishman followed with a single. With runners on second and third bases, Autumn Cookson hit a ball to centerfield, driving two batters home. Kecoughtan walked Samantha Carlton, and Alivia Bruce advanced Cookson and Carlton with her hit. Kaia Hutton then had two runs batted in (RBI) single to push Gloucester to a 4-0 lead.
