The Gloucester High School boys’ and girls’ varsity soccer teams came away with a mostly winning week on the field as both teams dominated almost all of their opponents.
Boys
The varsity boys’ team achieved two shutout wins at home this past week against New Kent and Bethel. The Dukes defeated the Trojans, 8-0, last Friday and the Bruins, 7-0, Tuesday evening.
During the Bethel game, three Dukes scored in the first half. Brody Sutton scored unassisted, Alessio Gone scored on a Corey Skay assist and Skay earned a point for the Dukes, assisted by Kollin Wilson. Gloucester continued to score into the second half. K.J. Wolford, Gavin Blanks and Gone each scored, each assisted by Skay. Skay also scored on a Sutton assist.
The Dukes will play again next Tuesday night at home against the Phoebus Phantoms.
Girls
The Lady Dukes suffered one loss this past week to New Kent, 5-1, last Friday on the road.
