GHS JV field hockey at 8-1-0 mid-season

Gloucester High School’s JV field hockey team is sitting on a 8-1-0 record on the season after defeating York High School on Tuesday, 3-0.

Team captain Payton Maples recorded a hat trick against the Falcons in the 3-0 victory. Assists came from Peyton Price, Brianna Culotta and Charlotte Houtz.

Tuesday’s win marks the season’s mid-point for the JV Dukes, who spent the week prior on the road, tying Glen Allen High School and beating Nansemond River High School.

On Sept. 22, the Dukes beat the Warriors, 3-1, on the road. The three goals were made by Ady Jeffery, Culotta and Maples.

On Sept. 19, the Lady Dukes were able to keep the Jaguars of Glen Allen off the scoreboard, but couldn’t muster a goal themselves, tying 0-0.

On Sept. 15, Gloucester defeated Jamestown High School, 7-0. Mary-Ashton VanFossen led the team in scoring with a hat trick. Houtz scored twice while Maples and Ayelu Mason scored once each. Lacey Carpenter, Jeffery, Maples and Mason each ...
