GHS boys open soccer season with 2 wins

The Gloucester High School varsity boys’ soccer team currently holds a 2-1 record, following wins over Hampton and Denbigh, with the team’s only loss a 2-0 shutout by Smithfield.

The Dukes opened the season on Tuesday, March 19, crushing Hampton, 10-1.

In the first half, Kollin Wilson scored Gloucester’s first goal of the night with an assist from Corey Skay. Hampton responded with a goal. Gloucester responded back and continued to dominate with a goal from Kohlby Wilson with an assist from Kollin Wilson, three more goals from Kohlby Wilson, a goal from Tanner Bailey with an assist from Max Bell, and a goal from Tyler Welch. This left the score 7-1 at halftime.

In the second half, the Dukes remained strong and continued to advance their lead by scoring three more goals. Gavin Blanks scored a goal with an assist from Tyler Welch, Kollin Wilson scored a goal with assist from Kohlby Wilson and Carter Thompson also scored a goal.
