FORID FRANK FIGGINS

Forid Frank Figgins, age 84, of Laneview, passed peacefully into the hand of his Savior on May 15, 2013.

Frank was a decorated Korean War Veteran, serving in the Army assigned to the C Company, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Division. He received the Purple Heart with one Cluster, Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, and United Nations Service Medal.

Frank was well known in the community for his mastery as a welder. He worked as a welder in the Norfolk Shipyard, Norfolk & Western Railway, Humphries Railway, and retired from his own business, Figgins Welding.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank E. Figgins and Vernie and Edward Davis; three brothers and one sister, and his wife of 32 years, Ruth Figgins.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 24 years, Betty Jo Figgins; brother, Eddie Davis and wife Agnes; daughter, Jackie Edwards and husband Thomas; four sons, Michael Ward and wife Deloris, James Young, Donald Young and wife Lucy, Mark Young; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family received friends at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda followed by the funeral service at 11 o’clock conducted by the Rev. Rita Staul. Interment was in Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with a reception in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
