Flamenco guitarist closes out library concert season

Guitarist Charles Moeser will finish up Mathews Memorial Library’s Soothin’ Summer Sounds concert season with a performance at 7 p.m. next Thursday, Aug. 23, at the library.

Moeser has studied in Spain and played flamenco in performances in Richmond and Washington, D.C. Along with playing at festivals, colleges and clubs, he has performed at the Smithsonian Institution and the National Gallery of Art. He has also appeared overseas in the Canal Zone and Lima, Peru, among others. He currently teaches flamenco guitar in Richmond.

As summer draws to a close, the library looks back on celebrating the season with a foreign flavor. Soothin’ Summer Sounds offered performers from the Virginia Symphony who provided selections by great European composers as well as a Klezmer Band that brought the excitement of Jewish jazz.
