Fish biting from shore at Beaverdam

More fish are being caught from shore in the past couple weeks at the Beaverdam Park Reservoir, according to park ranger Elizabeth Keefer.

One of the park’s regular fishermen caught a few largemouth bass from shore as well as black crappie using wacky worms and curly tail jigs, she said. Other reports have included bass, crappie, bluegill and chain pickerel from boats and from shore. Artificial bait, minnows and night crawlers have all been bringing anglers fishing success.

Beaverdam Park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Starting April 1, the hours will be extended to 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. The park rents watercraft, and sells bait and concessions. Some rental fees and concessions prices have been increased as of March 1. For more information, call the Ranger Station at 804-693-2107.
