BOOK LAUNCH: M.P. Slaughter will have a book launch and signing for her debut poetry collection, “Until the Cardinals Carry Me Home,” from 4-6 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Gloucester-Mathews Gazette-Journal office, 6625 Main Street, Gloucester.
SCHOOL BOARD: The Mathews County School Board will meet at 6 o’clock tonight, Thursday, Sept. 25, in the Brooks Auditorium at Thomas Hunter Middle School. The meeting was originally scheduled for Sept. 16, but postponed due to concerns over flooding.
LECTURE: Historian Paul Mitchell will discuss the contribution two former rectors, the Rev. Frank Stringfellow (1886-1889) and the Rev. Giles Buckner Cooke (1904-1915) made to the history of Kingston Episcopal Parish in a lecture titled “Changing Courses,” to be held at 7 o’clock tonight, Thursday, Sept. 25, in the parish house, 370 Main Street, Mathews.
