Editorial: Voice of the people

Election time is right around the corner, and a few readers have shared with the Gazette-Journal the issues they want to see addressed by the candidates in the coming weeks. Here are just a few of their thoughts:

Roads: "A ‘quick fix’ of potholes is not the long-term solution; we need to work on repairs and maintenance of roads and bridges/tunnels, as well as new projects in the works for our future." The writer went on to say that anticipating needs and working toward developing new corridors is important. "We have many assets in our beautiful state, but roadways are too often neglected and dangerous."

Entitlement programs: Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid have become an essential part of our daily lives. But, at the same time, changes are needed for them to remain economically viable.
