Editorial: Give us your thoughts

This summer, we are trying something new.

While the Gazette-Journal has always been a forum for ideas through our Readers Write section, this time around we’re looking for something a little different. We are asking our readers to send their suggestions of issues having the greatest importance to Gloucester and Mathews, and to Virginia.

Voters will head to the polls this fall to choose members of the board of supervisors and school board in each county, most of the constitutional officers, and all senators and delegates to the General Assembly.

In the months leading up to Election Day, much will be written and said about issues of general interest. It seems to us, much of the time, that the topics under discussion are those put forward by the various parties and factions. They state the issues and then control the discussion.

Where is the voice of the people?

We ask that you send us letters and e-mails to tell us what interests you.
