Edge Hill House to receive historical marker

  

Gloucester will soon have its second specialized historical marker, this time at the Edge Hill House, located at the intersection of Main Street and Route 14. The first marker of its kind was erected at Nuttall’s Store at Ware Neck and was dedicated last fall. The latest marker was formally presented to the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors Tuesday night.

Members of the county’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department, the Gloucester Historical Committee and the Gloucester Historical Society have partnered to research, design and receive proper clearance for these signs, which they believe add significant historical value to the residents of and visitors to the county.

According to county tourism coordinator Hilton Snowdon, the markers must follow the guidelines of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources and incorporate the official Gloucester County seal. He said both the design and content of the Edge Hill House marker were approved by DHR and ...
