Dukes notch two wins; coach’s 300th

The Gloucester High School varsity baseball team took home two wins this past week against Hampton and Denbigh, with Tuesday’s win against Denbigh marking head coach Gus Morande’s 300th win with the program.

Gloucester traveled to Hampton last Thursday to beat the Crabbers, 4-2. Gloucester and Hampton each had six hits and no errors.

Tuesday afternoon, the Dukes hosted Denbigh and defeated the Patriots, 11-1. The Dukes had seven hits and two errors, while Denbigh had one hit and two errors.

Austin Shackelford pitched a complete game and had two hits and three RBIs. Braydon Enoch also had two hits.

The Dukes are scheduled to play their second game against Denbigh this afternoon. They will return to the field after spring break on April 9 on the road against Warwick.
