The Gloucester High School baseball team had a split week, losing to Menchville last Thursday, followed by win against Warwick.
The Dukes fell to the Monarchs, 1-0. The only run of the game was scored at the bottom of the third inning. Hank Hardaway managed two hits in two at bats in the loss.
On Tuesday afternoon, Gloucester defeated the Warwick Raiders, 19-9. While the Dukes fell behind early, trailing 8-4 by the second inning, Gloucester gained momentum in following innings. Hayden Simmons led the Dukes in hits, putting up four this in five at bats and driving in two runs.
This win bumped Gloucester’s record to 12-3 and third place in the Peninsula District standings. Gloucester will face Warwick again this afternoon.
