Dukes close out perfect regular season

The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team closed its undefeated regular season with a three-goal blanking of host Patrick Henry High School in Ashland last Thursday.

Channy Johnson scored all three Gloucester goals and was assisted on two by Alexis Adams and Avery Watkins. The Dukes outshot the Patriots, 50-0, and earned 22 penalty corners. Gloucester controlled the tempo of the game from the onset and never allowed the ball to enter their circle.

The Dukes also posted a 7-0 win over their Warhill High School opponents in Williamsburg on Oct. 20. Johnson also had a hat trick in that win and closed the regular season with a team-leading total of 30 goals scored.

Also scoring for Gloucester against Warhill were Aubree Dorsey, Mackenzi Reece, Reese Miller and Watkins. Kamryn McDonough and Miller each had two assists and scoring assists were credited to Johnson, Watkins and Adams.
