The Gloucester High School boys’ varsity volleyball team spent the past week on its home court, celebrating wins against Bethel and Phoebus.
The Dukes defeated the Bethel Bruins, 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-12), last Thursday. Jesse Manheim had one ace, one kill, one assist and three digs; Tabb Hogge had two aces and nine digs; Grayson Shield had one ace, four kills, 25 assists and two digs; Gavin Blanks had seven kills, one block assist and one assist; Hayden Simmons had four aces, eight kills, one block assist and five digs; Cooper Teagle had one kill; Ryan Williams had 12 kills; Bruce Miller had one kill and one solo block; and Ryan McCullough had one kill and six digs.
Gloucester also defeated the Phoebus Phantoms in three straight sets (25-5, 25-15, 25-18) Tuesday night. Manheim had two aces, two kills and one dig; Hogge had one assist and three digs; Shield had three aces, two kills, 18 assists, one block assist and one dig; Blanks had five kills, one block assist and three assists; Simmons had eight kills; Bryan Fischer had one ace and two digs; Kollin Wilson had two digs; Teagle had one block assist; Colter Callis had six aces, five kills, one assist and two digs; Ryan Williams had one kill and one dig; Miller had three kills, one block assist and one assist; and McCullough had one ace and five digs.
The Dukes will be home again tonight and will face the Heritage Hurricanes. Gloucester will be on the road Tuesday night to play the Woodside Wolverines.
