Dragon Run Bridge project underway

The left lane of Route 17 southbound at the Dragon Run Bridge was closed Monday by the Virginia Department of Transportation. The closure is part on ongoing work to rehabilitate the southbound portion of the bridge which connects Gloucester and Middlesex counties.

A VDOT release said the $4.1 million project is funded by the State of Good Repair program, designed to improve the condition of structurally deficient bridges in Virginia.

The work is expected to last 15 months with completion due August 2021.
