Crabbers shut out Dukes, 16-0

The Gloucester High School varsity football team started its season by falling to the Hampton Crabbers, 16-0, on Saturday at Darling Stadium. After holding off the Crabbers through a scoreless half, the Dukes were unable to keep up with the Hampton offense.

“We were tied at halftime, 0-0. I was thinking the first team to score would win,” said head coach John Scalf. “Still, even with a loss our team has come a long way from last year’s team. We have some things to figure out but overall not a bad day for the Dukes.”

The Dukes will look to turn things around tonight, as they travel to face York High School. The Sept. 1 game kicks off at 7. Gloucester will have its home opener the following Friday, Sept. 9 against Bethel.
