The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously during its meeting in the colonial courthouse Tuesday night to seek bids for completion of the county’s Emergency Operations Center build-out. The money necessary to go forward with the bidding process will come from the county administrator’s contingency fund.

In January, the board of supervisors considered authorizing the estimated $635,000 project, which includes building out the lower level shell of the Emergency Communications Center. However, the majority of board members elected to delay consideration of the project until a better understanding of the annual operating and capital budget was known.

Gloucester public works director Garrey Curry said it is the goal of county officials to have the EOC completed for the 2014 storm season. "That would give us time to train and exercise in the new facility before hurricane season arrives," Curry said.
