Confirmed tornado

The U.S. National Weather Service, Wakefield, confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down at 8:20 p.m. Friday in Gloucester, causing some minor damage in Maryus. The tornado likely touched down as a waterspout over the York River, according to the NWS. It then arrived on land and produced its most significant damage to trees along Jenkins Neck Road. It proceeded to the north-northeast and flattened a shed near the intersection of Maryus Road and Guinea Circle, shown above. The tornado likely lifted in the marshland north of Maryus, according to the NWS. The estimated peak winds of the tornado were measured at 80 miles per hour and it traveled approximately 1.4 miles and had a width of 100 yards.
