Collins appointed principal of GHS

Thomas Nathan Collins of Lanexa was appointed as the new principal at Gloucester High School by the Gloucester County School Board during its June 10 meeting. He will take the post on July 1.

According to his resume, Collins has 13 years of experience in public school administration and currently serves as the director of curriculum and instruction for New Kent Public Schools. Collins was the director of secondary instruction in New Kent from 2008 until assuming his current position in 2011.

Prior to joining NKPS, Collins worked for Augusta County Public Schools, first as a history teacher and coach at Buffalo Gap High School from 1997 to 2001, then as the assistant principal at Stuarts Draft High School from 2001 to 2006. Collins was promoted to principal at Stuarts Draft in 2006 and served two years before joining New Kent schools.
