Myra Hess was recently awarded the Riverside Middle Peninsula Champion of Caring Award for 2019. Hess, a certified nursing assistant, went above and beyond her normal duties by sitting with and providing comfort to a dying resident during her time off, a release said. She had assisted the resident for several years and continued this attention to the last moments of life. A resident of Cobbs Creek, Hess works at Riverside Convalescent Center-Mathews.
