CCS baseball has home opener Friday against VES

The Christchurch School baseball team has six returning players as the Seahorses take to the diamond on Friday in its home opener against Virginia Episcopal.

After graduating nine seniors in the Class of 2023, the program is starting to rebuild. Head coach Joey Fitchett and assistants Aaron Mathews and Floyd Crouch are very excited about this young team. Waverly Rennolds (Urbanna), Latane Barnette (Tappahannock), Kemp Davis (Tappahannock), Mark Lewis (Dunnsville) and Che Gonteb (Namibia) make up this year’s seniors. Cam Byers (Christchurch), Mac Bargatze (Dunnsville), Tre Greene (Mathews), Will Paschold (Virginia Beach), and Mauricio Vallarta Pena (Mexico) are the juniors. Trey Fitchett (Saluda), Dallas Davis (Topping) and Finley Caisse (Hartfield) are the sophomores and Isaiah Booker (Gloucester), Brayden Payne (Waterview), and Andrew Claussen (Dulles) are the freshmen.
