Carter to lead this year’s parade as grand marshal

“Last year, I was sending the parade down the street and this year I’ll be at the front of the parade as it goes down the street.”
In a full circle moment, Denise Carter has been named as the grand marshal of the 2025 Christmas and Holiday Parade, which will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, followed at 5 by the annual tree lighting, presented by the Cook Foundation.
Carter, who retired from Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism in January, has organized the annual parade for over 35 years, according to Tourism, Marketing and Events Manager Hunter LeClair.
“In addition to ensuring that each holiday season was brought in with cheer at the parade, Denise has dedicated countless hours to expanding low-cost and engaging programs and events for both youth and older adults,” said LeClair.
