Busy week for band

Last week was a busy one for the Thomas Hunter and Mathews High School band students. On Wednesday, March 20, the Blue Devil Band traveled to Lafayette High School in Williamsburg to participate in the VBODA District VIII Assessment. The band received a Superior rating on their sight reading performance, and a Superior and two Excellent ratings on their stage performance, for an overall Excellent rating. On Friday and Saturday, qualifying members of the MHS and THMS bands traveled to Westmoreland High School to participate in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula Area Honor Band. The students rehearsed for 10 hours over two days under the direction of Robbie Spiers and Jonathan Neff alongside students from other area schools. The weekend culminated in a concert on Saturday afternoon.
