Wroten Oil Company, Inc., was named by the Mathews County School Board to the 2023 Virginia School Boards Association Business Honor Roll for its continued support of Mathews County Public Schools. Johnny Wroten, at right, accepted the certificate from school board chairman Desmond Smith at the May 16 meeting. “Y’all have a wonderful staff. Your maintenance people and transportation people are just wonderful to work with,” Wroten said, pointing out that it’s been 52 years since he last received a certificate from the school board: his high school diploma.
