Bread for Life thanks Gloucester Master Gardeners for donation of produce

The Bread for Life Community Food Pantry recently recognized the Gloucester Master Gardeners for their donation of produce grown at the group’s demonstration garden at Woodville Park.
The demonstration garden was started in 2012 as part of the Master Gardeners’ ongoing effort to provide community education, a key mission of the organization.
Donations of 300 pounds to the largest delivery of 475 pounds have been made most years since 2012 with one or two periodic interruptions, according to Master Gardener Jim Newton. Newton helped install the garden in 2012 as Woodville was being established as a park. There was no water on site at the time.
Master Gardeners plan, plant, tend and harvest vegetables for donation.
“The garden is open to the public for education purposes, but produce is intended solely for donation to Bread For Life. It is a ‘look, don’t touch’ garden,” Master Gardener Marion Baker said.
