Machicomoco State Park’s Car-Top Boat Launch is back open for kayaks and other small watercraft until Nov. 1, when it will close for the winter season to protect migratory waterfowl. Such launches are designated areas where small non-motorized boats can be launched from the roof of a vehicle, providing easy access to waterways. Volunteers needed Machicomoco is always looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks and duties like interpretive program facilitation, trail monitoring, gardening, customer service, and more.
