The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Tuesday a commercial seafood harbor master plan for the Perrin River in lower Gloucester County. The plan is now slated to go before the Gloucester Planning Commission for its review and adoption before it can be implemented.

Lewie Lawrence, executive director of the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission, who drafted the plan alongside Gloucester County staff, said the Perrin River Seafood Harbor Master Plan builds on efforts to protect working waterfronts of the county, which is part of Gloucester’s 2013 draft comprehensive plan.

According to Lawrence, the Perrin River was targeted because it is home to several working waterfront businesses, including a private marina and Perrin River Landing, which receives much use from the public.
