The Mathews High School boys’ basketball team closed out the 2021-2022 season Monday with a 57-31 loss to West Point in the opening round of the Region 1A tournament. In last Wednesday’s regular season finale, after leading for much of the game, the Devils struggled in the final quarter against the visiting Middlesex Chargers to fall, 67-56. Looking ahead to next season, one of the bright spots for Mathews is freshman Tre Greene, who is shown here taking the ball to the hoop against the Chargers.
