Bellamy United Methodist Church, Gloucester, is hosting Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson, Resident Bishop of the Richmond Area of the United Methodist Church, on Sunday, for the 11 a.m. worship service. All are invited to attend.
“Bishop Sue,” as she prefers to be called, was elected bishop by the 2016 Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference of The United Methodist Church. Her first assignment as bishop was to the North Georgia Episcopal Area. In 2022, she was assigned to the Virginia Conference.
A Florida native, Bishop Sue is a graduate of the University of Florida (B.S. in Business Administration), University of Florida College of Law (J.D.), and Candler School of Theology at Emory University (M.Div.). She was a federal law clerk and a litigator with the Tampa law firm of Carlton, Fields before she answered her call to ministry.
