Bicycle access meeting held in Gloucester

Despite cold weather with inches of snow about to fall, approximately 40 people turned out last Wednesday for a meeting to identify priorities for bicycle access in Gloucester County.

Marquitrice Mangham, chief of community planning for the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission, said she was glad so many people came to the Gloucester Library in Main Street Center to offer suggestions about where they ride—or would ride—their bikes, if adequate facilities were available. MPPDC sponsored the meeting with the Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism and Planning and Zoning departments.

By gathering input from bikers and the public, Mangham said, organizers can provide better information that the Virginia Department of Transportation can consider when deciding where bike paths might be placed in different areas of Gloucester.
