U9 Hurricanes win 10-1
The Baystars U9 Hurricanes youth soccer team won 10-1 over the VA Rush Grey in a home match at Woodville Park over the weekend.
The game started off with two strong goals from Jack Sheridan. Three more goals were scored by Theo Collins. Gabriel Franklin rounded off the first half with a goal making the score 6-0. The boys managed to keep the ball on the opposing side the entire half with zero shots on their own goal.
There were four more Gloucester goals in the second half. Two were scored by Collins, with one each from Sheridan and Audrick Martinez. Keeper Sebastian Newman made three saves assisted by Sheridan. Only one goal managed to slip by them. The Hurricanes will play again at Woodville Park on Saturday at 12:15 p.m.
U10 White Caps defeat Western Branch
The Baystars U10 White Caps defeated the visiting Western Branch SC U10 Venom soccer team this past Saturday at Woodville Park, 6-3.
Leading the White Caps’ defense and splitting time in goal, Ryan Seay and Noah Ford had two and six saves, respectively.
On the offensive side of the ball, Colton Bergstrom and Fett Kutch each found the goal twice, with Triffon Luechauer and Seay each scoring one goal apiece. Donnie Wolford was credited with two assists, while Luechauer had one.
The White Caps will compete again at Woodville this Saturday to take on VA Rush’s U10 Vipers.
Stingrays U12 shut out Red Pandas, 7-0
The Baystars U12 Stingrays youth soccer team faced the Red Pandas in a warm afternoon match over the weekend. The Stingrays won 7-0, shutting out the Red Pandas.
Stingrays maintained possession on opposing half the majority of the game. Goals were scored by several girls, as the team continued to sub onto the field into somewhat unfamiliar positions.
Louisa Doley started the onslaught with an assist from Ellis O’Mara. O’Mara would later score her own goal in the second half of play. Brooklyn Robinette, Jill New and Hadli Sellers contributed one goal each, with Sellers taking hers up the field from her position on defense. Braylin Brochu was able to contribute two goals, one coming from a penalty kick due to a handball in the box.
The Stingrays will return to play on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Woodville Park at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
U13 Captains win 4-2
The Baystars FC Captains U13 youth soccer team had an impressive performance in their recent match, defeating Beach FC Celtic 4-2 at Woodville Park.
With Brayden Brown, Dean Christensen and Owen Thomas all contributing goals, the offense also showed strong attacking prowess with assists from Austin Sutton, Owen Thomas and Dean Christensen.
The defense also played a key role in securing the win, anchored by Ayden Timbal, Brek Chavis, Joey LaCosa, and Fen Strack.
Next weekend, the team will head to Virginia Beach for its next challenge against another Beach FC team, hoping to build on this momentum.
Rockfish U19 win 4-1
The Baystar Rockfish U19 youth soccer team won its game against the VA Legacy SC Wizards 4-1 this past Sunday at the Warhill Sports Complex.
In the first half of the game, the first goal was scored as an own goal by the VA Legacy SC Wizards with an assist by Elias Hidalgo. Following the first goal, Gavin Blanks scored two goals and VA Legacy scored one after.
In the second half, Ashton Williams scored the fourth and final goal for the Rockfish to the VA Wizards one.
