Baystars soccer and baseball were in full swing over the weekend with a number of teams competing.
Soccer
The Marlins 13 soccer team had two games on Saturday against the Reign FC Black and CSL Storm, going 1-1. The Marlins beat Reign FC Black, 2-0, thanks to Emmy Baker and Isabella Harrell both scoring. The second match against the Storm was a tough fight, with Harrell scoring both of the Marlins’ goals off free kicks. The match, however, did not go the Marlins way as they lost, 3-2.
The Captains 11U soccer team was victorious in a close match Saturday against the Suffolk Knights, winning 4-3. The close match saw the Captains take an early lead before the Knights equaled the score. Leading the team offensively was Owen Thomas who had two goals in the contest. Joey LaCosa and Austin Sutton scored the other two goals. Owens, LaCosa and Tyler Byrne each recorded an assist. Defense from Christian Timbal, Brek Chavis and Shane Mosher helped the Captains take the win.
