Baystars host Bird Day Bash

The Baystars FC annual Bird Bash was held Saturday with 54 teams participating including this turkey-themed team. Baystars FC hosted its annual Bird Day Bash friendlies soccer tournament on Saturday at Woodville Park. The tournament drew players from Middlesex, Lunenburg, Chesapeake, Smithfield, Williamsburg, Newport News and Hampton, with a total of 54 teams participating.

Along with the matches, nonperishable food items were collected from participants All donations benefit the Bread For Life food pantry. At the end of the day 1,114 pounds of food was collected to be donated, along with a $2,000 donation thanks to the proceeds of a raffle.
