Bay Aging program completes 47 weatherization projects in 2023

Members of Bay Aging’s Weatherization Team are hard at work across the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, making a difference in the lives of local residents by providing essential repairs that ensure homes remain safe, accessible and comfortable.

The sight of Bay Housing trucks serves as a powerful reminder of the behind-the-scenes work being done to maintain housing stability for the local community.

Over the past year, Bay Aging’s Weatherization Program has successfully completed 47 projects, addressing everything from structural repairs to accessibility improvements. These efforts have allowed homeowners to stay in their homes despite physical or financial challenges.

“We are deeply committed to ensuring that our neighbors can live independently in safe and secure homes,” said Bay Aging Board Director Bruce Craig. “Our team has worked tirelessly to address critical home repair needs throughout the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, and we’re proud of the impact we’ve made this year.”

The Weatherization Program has been particularly vital in the wake of recent extreme weather events, which have heightened awareness about the importance of home resilience. While Bay Aging’s efforts are not directly focused on disaster recovery, they provide essential services that help prevent further damage to homes and improve the overall quality of life for the area’s most vulnerable residents.
