The British will be coming back to Gloucester, including more than 1,000 reenactors to commemorate the American, English and French soldiers who fought the conclusion of the American Revolution in Gloucester and Yorktown.

Warren Deal, chairman of the Return to the Battle of the Hook reenactment, presented the plans for a second major event to be held Oct. 19-20 on the grounds of Warner Hall, home of George Washington’s ancestors, at the March meeting of the Gloucester Board of Supervisors.

The first Battle of the Hook reenactment, held in 2008, drew nearly 1,500 reenactors and 8,000 spectators.

Deal said he expects October’s event to be the largest Revolutionary War reenactment in the United States in 2013.
