Bains returns to Gloucester as Chief IT Officer

Gloucester resident George Bains was recently hired as Chief Information Technology Officer for Gloucester County. Bains, who served as Gloucester’s first Director of Information Technology before taking a similar post in Henrico County, will return to work for Gloucester County on Oct. 31 in this new role. He will be paid an annual salary of $121,263. 

With 31 years of public sector IT experience and a proven track record in both engineering and information technology service in local government, Bains most recently was Assistant Director of Information Technology for Henrico County, according to a release. Prior to his tenure in Henrico, he served as Gloucester County’s first Director of Information Technology, creating the function from scratch with extremely limited resources.
