Potter Katherine Maloney is the Bay School Community Arts Center’s December Artist of the Month. Maloney’s ceramic art is inspired by love for the outdoors that was instilled in her during a childhood spent on her family’s organic farm at Shacklefords, a press release stated. She uses porcelain and stoneware to sculpt each animal figure to integrate with the vessels she creates. The animals are presented in a position of honor and integrity to invoke an introspective response that invites human interaction. Her work has been exhibited throughout the East Coast, including at the Smithsonian Craft Show and the Morean Center for Clay. The exhibit will be on display throughout the month, with a live virtual tour of the gallery scheduled for noon on Tuesday.
