Anglers having success at Beaverdam Reservoir

The past few weeks have been great for anglers at the Beaverdam Park Reservoir in Gloucester, Park Ranger Elizabeth Keefer reported.

Largemouth bass, black crappie, chain pickerel, and yellow perch are the primary fish being hooked lately, she said. One fisherman reported catching a 4-pound bass using a Rooster Tail Lure while fishing from a boat in a stump bed.

Several people have reported having luck fishing from shore near the Route 606 (Farys Mill Road) entrance. There are also several reports of fish being caught from shore at the Route 616 (Roaring Springs Road) entrance and from various fishing access points on the Nature Trail.

On Sunday, March 12, Extreme Bass Fishing held a Bass Tournament at Beaverdam. Their first-place winner had a bag total of 19.15 pounds with the biggest fish weighing 6.9 pounds. Second place had a total weight of 14.9 pounds. Third place had a total weight of 7.5 with one fish weighing 6.2 pounds.
