Activities planned this month at Machicomoco

Machicomoco State Park at Hayes will hold a number of programs throughout September. “Conservation Exploration,” a program that lets park guests practice wildlife and plant population estimations will be held on at 3 p.m. Friday at the Forestry Trail at the Interpretive Area.

Tsenacomacoh “Smokes and Smores” will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Outdoor Classroom. Pre-registration is required along with a $5 fee.Parkgoers can attend “Plants: Poisonous and Palatable” on Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. and at 4 p.m. on Sept. 24 to identify edible and poisonous plants that can be found around the park.

“Tale and Tails” will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Trailhead Parking Lot. The activity will feature face-painting, costume piece, and acting activities. Pre-registration is required for this event.

“Junior Ranger, Discovery Digs” will allow parkgoers to earn a patch by participating in a mock dig for artifacts at the Interpretive Area at 3 p.m. Monday.
