The Newport News Police Department has partnered with Christ United Methodist Church to provide Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (C.R.A.S.E.) training from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Christ United Methodist Church. Breakfast and child care will be provided by the United Methodist Women’s Ministry starting at 9:30 a.m.
The free active shooter training is available to teach members of the community how to prepare, prevent and react during an active shooter event or mass attack in a variety of workplace and gathering environments, including schools, private businesses and religious institutions.

Christ UMC, at 133 Deep Creek Road, is located in midtown Newport News between J. Clyde Morris Boulevard and Oyster Point Road, a few minutes from Christopher Newport University.
