A group of teachers from Petsworth Elementary School who go kayaking together every Wednesday during the summer spotted something unusual in the distance when they went out last week. The group left from John’s Point Landing in Gloucester and soon saw a large vessel on the horizon. They paddled up to the ship to find out that it was the Pride of Baltimore II and had just come from Richmond SailFest, which was hosted by the City of Richmond and the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. A documentary filmmaker, Justin Black, was on board, documenting the trip. Tavy VanNess took this selfie of the group with the schooner in the background.
