A bouquet of love

Smith’s Florist and Gift Shop, Gloucester, wanted to show appreciation for the many nonprofit organizations that help the community. So they did it the way they know best … they said it with flowers. Last week, Smith’s Florist held a Facebook contest asking residents to nominate their favorite group, with the organization getting the most votes receiving a grand tropical arrangement. The winner was Helping the Homeless, a nonprofit ministry that helps those in need with food, clothing and household items. Wendy Roundy, who started the outreach with her husband Doug in 2010, is shown receiving the bouquet from shop owner Michael Richardson. “This arrangement is valued at $400, but the nonprofits in this community are priceless!” the Facebook post from Smith’s Florist stated. In addition to the tropical arrangement (which Richardson said is his favorite to create), he also provided several other gift items and made a personal donation to the organization.
