Visitors step back in time aboard Godspeed

Residents and visitors had the opportunity to step back in time on Wednesday afternoon as the replica ship Godspeed made a special stop at Williams Wharf Landing. Docked for three hours in the afternoon, the vessel welcomed guests aboard for tours and educational experiences highlighting Virginia’s early colonial history. The Godspeed is a recreation of one of the three ships that carried English settlers from England to Virginia in 1607. Alongside the Susan Constant and Discovery, the original ship completed a four-month voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, ultimately helping establish the Jamestown settlement, the first permanent English colony in North America. The replica vessel calls Jamestowne Settlement its home.
