Now forming: a new group called Widows of Gloucester and Mathews, Virginia. The group will hold its first meeting from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, at First Morning Star Baptist Church, 8906 Guinea Road, Bena. The day will include lunch, raffles, inspirational speakers and table talk, according to an announcement. Charlotte Wright, one of the organizers, said the purpose of the group is to help each other, and to learn how to handle unfamiliar things, such as cutting grass and dealing with tradesmen. “I lost my husband [William Donald Wright] seven years ago, and there was nothing to support, encourage or even teach me,” Wright said. Life suddenly took on a different and difficult complexion. In speaking of this change to her friend and fellow widow Marion Randall, her friend responded, why don’t you organize something.
