Gloucester County Animal Control worked with numerous partner agencies to seize a total of 87 animals, including dogs, cats, horses and small animals, from unsanitary and inhumane conditions at a property in Hayes.
The team executed a search warrant last month, which was issued following an ongoing investigation into suspected animal neglect and cruelty. The animals were removed from the premises and placed in the care of animal control for evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation.
The Virginia State Police, Office of the Attorney General, Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, King William County Sheriff’s Office, Regional Animal Shelter in King William, Richmond Animal Care & Control and the Virginia Animal Fighting Task Force assisted with the case.
