2 huge red drum caught in local waters

Two huge red drum were caught in local waters in late May, qualifying for citations from the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament.

Jason West of Shacklefords, caught and released a 58-inch drum in Mobjack Bay on May 30, and Roane Booker of Gloucester, caught and released a 56-inch drum on May 27 in North River. West was jigging for fish and Booker was fishing with bait.

Other residents earning citations reported in the June 8 issue of vasaltwaterjournal.com were:

Christopher R. Harris of Hayes, 17-pound, 2-ounce blueline tilefish caught May 30 in Norfolk Canyon;

Donald W. Marshall of Gloucester, 5-pound, 5-ounce speckled trout caught June 3 in North River;

Douglas N. Hegamyer of Gloucester, 7-pound, 2-ounce speckled trout caught May 21 in Ware River;

Jeffrey A. Brown of Gloucester, 5-pound, 4-ounce speckled trout caught May 15 in Mobjack Bay;

Daniel McFarland of Gloucester, 5-pound, 8-ounce speckled trout caught May 13 in Mobjack Bay; and
