11 from GHS heading to state meet

The GHS girls’ 4x800 relay team placed third and the boys took first in Friday’s regional championships. The boys team included, from left, Rylan Allcorn, Tyler Hicks, Leo Berry, Tanner Baker, while Emily Shipe, Mya Baker, Cori Morgan, Annalise Helton, from left, competed for the girls.

The Gloucester High School indoor track team competed on Friday at the Class 5B Indoor Track and Field Regional Championships. The Dukes will be sending 11 student athletes to states following their performances at regionals.Gloucester athletes headed to states are Emily Shipe, Mya Baker, Cori Morgan, Annalise Helton, Rylan Allcorn, Tyler Hicks, Leo Berry, Tanner Baker, McKayla Clark, Clayton Miller and Joel Junker.

Girls

Mya Baker placed second in the girls’ 1,600-meter run with a time 5:41.71 and first in the 3,200-meter run at 12:32.36. Morgan took fourth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13:35.76.
